Five members of the USC Women’s Golf team, all business students, were selected by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) for the All-American Scholar Team.
Senior Jenna Pearson (business/economics), juniors Laura Raffo (international business), Whitney Simons (international business), and Blythe Worley (business/management), and freshman Taylor Barrett (business) were all honored for their academic achievement. Selection criteria for the All-American Scholar Team are among the most stringent in college athletics – a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50, and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Senior Pearson made the Scholar Team for the fourth consecutive year, and Worley and Simons were honored for the third consecutive year. Simons was also named the 2006 SEC Women’s Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year. Barrett made the Scholar Team in her first year of collegiate play.
The Women’s Golf team was recognized as the NGCA All-Scholar Team of the Year in both 2005 and 2006. The women have excelled on the golf course, as well, advancing to post-season play in each of the last four years and finishing fourth at the 2007 SEC Championship.
